Mom's the Word 3 - Nest 1/2 Empty

Mom's the Word 3 - Nest 1/2 Empty

A new generation of laughs - the original Moms return to the Belfry with a brand new show.

From July 24 to August 12, 2018 the Belfry Theatre will present Mom’s the Word 3: Nest ½ Empty, written and performed by Jill Daum, Alison Kelly, Robin Nichol, Barbara Pollard & Deborah Williams. Mom’s the Word 3: Nest ½ Empty is the latest chapter in their stories of family and fracas.

“…captivates with its heart, humour, and honesty” —THE GEORGIA STRAIGHT

Their kids are grown, their marriages have “evolved,” and their bodies are backfiring. Life doesn’t get any prettier, but it never strays far from ludicrous or poignant as the moms continue to mine their personal history for every embarrassing detail. Filled with insights, secrets, and ribald humour, this new show from the moms you love is both hysterical and deeply touching.

"…a perfect balance of emotion and comedy…a performance you really do not want to miss” —LORDS OF DOGWOOD

Celebrating the incredible success of the Mom’s the Word series, director Wayne Harrison says, “This group of women changed the theatrical landscape, not just in Canada, but on several continents. Last year alone, productions toured in Scotland, Germany, and Canada.”

“…riotous & poignant…” —BROKENLEGREVIEWS

First conceived in 1993 by a group of Vancouver actors who had become “exhausted, bedraggled, amateur mothers,” Mom’s the Word became an immediate hit. The first show premiered at the Arts Club in 1995, with the moms sharing their experiences of new parenthood. In 2005, Mom’s the Word 2: Unhinged chronicled the good, the bad, and the ugly of raising teenagers and the moms’ own aging. Then, in 2009, both shows were combined to produce Mom’s the Word: Remixed.

In the latest instalment, Mom’s the Word 3: Nest ½ Empty, the moms recount the trials and tribulations of adult children. Featuring rocky relationships, parenting mishaps, and AquaFit crushes, the moms are back and ready to talk about it all. The moms say it best: “We gotta keep going, so we may as well laugh while we can!”
