CHELSEA HOTEL - THE SONGS OF LEONARD COHEN

“as near-perfect a musical as you can get...a solid five star production” Calgary Sun

Victoria, BC...From October 20 to November 15 the Belfry Theatre will present the Firehall Arts Centre production of Chelsea Hotel - The Songs of Leonard Cohen. Conceived and directed by Tracey Power, with musical direction and arrangements by Steven Charles, Chelsea Hotel - The Songs of Leonard Cohen stars Rachel Aberle, Lauren Bowler, Steven Charles, Benjamin Elliott, Marlene Ginader, and Jonathan Gould.

Chelsea Hotel brings together some of the most beautiful, melancholic and affecting songs in the history of recorded music” Winnipeg Free Press

Leonard Cohen’s powerful and inspirational music and lyrics are the heartbeat for Chelsea Hotel, an illusory world full of enchantment, desire, passion and love.

Check into New York’s infamous hotel—a place full of music and enchantment, desire and passion. Six performers play seventeen instruments in a rollicking tribute to this remarkable writer. Through Cohen’s transcendent songs and the honesty of his lyrics, you will be transfixed by this eclectic cabaret celebrating loves won and lost.

“...a knockout... The harmonies are as thick as cabaret smoke and the performers exhale them with astonishing ease. Freakishly talented” Georgia Straight

Chelsea Hotel combines a twisted Burton-esque aesthetic with pitch-perfect singing, complex performances, and a whole lot of heart…I was hooked from the opening act” VancityBuzz

“impeccably performed...haunting...achingly beautiful” Calgary Herald

A Firehall Arts Centre production, Chelsea Hotel - The Songs of Leonard Cohen is starting its latest tour here. Following its run at the Belfry, the show will tour to Vernon, Banff, Fort McMurray, Edmonton, New Westminster, Vancouver, and Toronto.
