Belfry premieres This Little Light

From December 10 - 23, 2016 the Belfry Theatre will present a staged presentation of a brand new musical, This Little Light, based on the short story The Little Match Girl by Hans Christian Andersen.

Created by Erin Macklem (Book and Lyrics) and Brad L’Écuyer (Music and Lyrics) and directed by Jane Johanson, This Little Light stars members of the Canadian College of Performing Arts Company C Studio Ensemble and will feature students from George Jay Elementary School, Central Middle School and Victoria High School.

First published in 1845, The Little Match Girl has served as inspiration for countless books, films, and songs. Erin and Brad wanted to create a piece written specifically for Victoria and Fernwood, celebrating light, music and community in the dark days of winter.

This Little Light features many of the real (and fictional) characters who make up this special neighbourhood and during each performance there will be a different and very special guest star.

This staged presentation is presented in partnership with the Canadian College of Performing Arts. Their Company C Studio Ensemble features Devin Arams, Will Carr, Forrest Elliott, Derry Oshust, Chase Sander, Kira Renee,  Jesse Deutscher, Madeleine Humeny, Amber Landry, Frankie Mulder, Hannah Ockenden, Miranda Sheepwash, Victoria Stolting, Charlotte Thompson, Ainsley Harrington, and Julie Mombourquette.

Erin and Brad have also been working with students and teachers at George Jay Elementary School, Central Middle School and Victoria High School. Choirs from each school will also be starring in This Little Light.
